Who bought Taylor Hospital? A local investor group called KQT Aikens Partners bought it in Ridley Park for $1 million in September 2025. Todd Strine, majority owner of the Delaware County ambulance company Keystone Quality Transport, leads the group. As of mid-October 2026 the building is still closed: no health system has signed on to run it, and the emergency room has not reopened. For the hospital’s background and what used to be there, see our Taylor Hospital Ridley Park guide.

Below we cover who bought Taylor Hospital, what they paid, what they say they want to do with it, and where things stand now. For news on all four former Crozer sites, our latest Crozer update is refreshed every month.
Who bought Taylor Hospital?
The buyer is KQT Aikens Partners, a partnership of local healthcare executives. Working from the agreement filed in bankruptcy court, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Todd Strine leads the group. He is the majority owner of Keystone Quality Transport, a medical transport company based in Delaware County. DELCO.Today later named Justin Misner as Strine’s partner in leading the group.
Strine grew up in Swarthmore. When FOX29 asked him in March 2026 why a transport company owner would buy a closed hospital, he said that nobody else did and that the properties were going to be abandoned.
The seller was Prospect Medical Holdings, the California company that owned Crozer Health and filed for Chapter 11 in January 2025. If you want the longer story of how Crozer ended up there, read why Crozer hospital closed.
How much did they pay, and what was the tax deal?
The price was $1 million. Before that, Prospect had told the bankruptcy judge that its top offer for Taylor was only $575,000, according to the Inquirer.
However, the sale only worked because of a property tax agreement. Delaware County, Ridley Park Borough and the Ridley School District agreed to cut the building’s taxable value from an assessed $60 million to $1 million for two years. The school board approved its part on a narrow 5-4 vote. The Inquirer reported that Prospect had not paid property taxes on the site since 2022. Also, the taxing bodies can appeal the value again starting in 2027.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Stacey Jernigan in the Northern District of Texas approved the deal in early September 2025, WHYY reported. State Rep. Leanne Krueger’s office announced the sale on September 9, 2025.

When did Taylor Hospital close?
Taylor’s emergency room stopped taking patients on April 23, 2025, the day after a judge approved Prospect’s closure plan, 6abc reported. The rest of the hospital shut in late April. Soon after, Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland followed in early May. DELCO.Today, citing the Philadelphia Business Journal, described Taylor as a 100-bed hospital at the time it closed.
What do the new owners plan for Taylor?
The owners are not trying to run a hospital themselves. Instead, they want to lease the building to a health system and to physician groups who would provide the care.
From the first week, Strine said the best outcome would be an emergency room. In other words, the people who bought Taylor Hospital want an ER there, but they cannot open one alone. He told the Inquirer that reopening one is “the ideal thing that could happen,” and in the same interview said a full hospital coming back was unlikely. He also warned that the money needed to fill the building would be many times the purchase price.
How the plan has changed since 2025
Here is how the plan has changed over the past year:
- September 2025: A 15-person crew began cleaning the building for tours, and Strine listed Penn, Jefferson, Main Line Health, Trinity, Nemours and CHOP as possible operators, CBS Philadelphia reported. The goal then was to have services back by the end of 2025.
- March 2026: The group renamed the property the Ridley Park Medical Campus and hired the Chicago firm Avison Young to market it nationally. Physician groups interested in outpatient surgery centers had shown interest, and an earlier push to land one big health system had not produced a deal. Strine told FOX29 the building “could be open next week” and that both Taylor and Springfield could be running by the end of 2026.
- April 2026: Strine described Taylor as a campus with several tenants under one health system, mentioned a group from California coming to tour, and said he hoped for some state support to attract a large system.
None of these steps produced a signed operator. That is the single fact that matters most for anyone in Ridley Park, Prospect Park or Eddystone hoping to use the building again.
Is Taylor Hospital reopening its ER?
Not yet, and no date has been set. The newest development came on September 15, 2026, when State Rep. David Delloso announced that Main Line Health, which runs Riddle Hospital in Media, had been awarded $1 million in state Local Share Account money “for a future project at Taylor Hospital.” Earlier, in July, Main Line Health received a separate $4 million to help restore emergency services in the area. It has not chosen a location for that money.
State documents labelled the September grant for a “Taylor Hospital Emergency Medical Department,” and Delloso first said it would bring the ER back. Later, his office walked that back. Patch reported the correction, and Main Line Health told Becker’s Hospital Review it is “actively evaluating options, including Taylor Hospital, to expand our emergency care capacity.”
Put simply: Main Line Health now has state money tied to a future project at Taylor, but it has not committed to opening an ER there. Treat any post saying Taylor’s ER is coming back on a set date with caution until Main Line Health or the owners announce it.
Did the same group buy Springfield Hospital?
Yes. A related entity, KQT Aikens Partners 2, bought the former Springfield Hospital for $1 million after the October 2025 auction winner failed to close, the Inquirer reported. That deal depended on Springfield Township lifting a deed restriction requiring a 24/7 emergency room on the site. For Springfield, Strine has floated a specialty hospital, such as a cancer or transplant center, with an emergency component. Crozer-Chester itself went to a different buyer than the group that bought Taylor Hospital; our Crozer sale guide covers who owns each former Crozer property.
Where Ridley Park residents go for care now
With Taylor and Crozer-Chester closed, Ridley Park and its neighbouring boroughs lost their closest hospitals. Crozer-Chester has no operator either, and its owners do not expect an answer before early 2027; see where the Crozer-Chester reopening plan stands. The nearest open emergency rooms are Riddle Hospital in Media, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby and the small ChristianaCare hospital in Aston. Our list of every open hospital and ER in Delaware County has addresses and what each one handles. For chest pain, stroke symptoms or a serious injury, call 911 rather than driving.
If you were treated at Taylor and need your old chart, the building’s new owners do not have it. Morgan Records Management now holds former Crozer records. The county says it will destroy them after March 2, 2027. Our guide to contacting Morgan Records has the phone number and the request steps.
Frequently asked questions
Who owns Taylor Hospital now?
KQT Aikens Partners, a local investor group led by Todd Strine of Keystone Quality Transport, bought Taylor Hospital for $1 million in September 2025 and now markets it as the Ridley Park Medical Campus.
Is Taylor Hospital open?
No. As of October 19, 2026, there are no patient services in the building and no operator has been announced.
Is Main Line Health taking over Taylor Hospital?
Not that anyone has announced. Main Line Health received a $1 million state grant in September 2026 for a future project at Taylor and says it is evaluating options there, but it does not own the building and has not confirmed an ER.
Why did Taylor Hospital sell for only $1 million?
Prospect was in bankruptcy, the hospital was closed, the best earlier offer was $575,000, and the property carried years of unpaid taxes on a $60 million assessment. Local taxing bodies agreed to value it at $1 million for two years to make the sale possible.
How do I get my Taylor Hospital medical records?
Request them from Morgan Records Management, the custodian for former Crozer Health records, before March 2, 2027. The new building owners cannot release records.
