Crozer Health Medical Records Deadline: What Happens After March 2, 2027

Unclaimed Crozer Health records are set to be destroyed after March 2, 2027. Here is what that covers, who should request first, and how to make sure your request finishes in time.

Last checked: October 16, 2026. This is an independent guide. It is not affiliated with Crozer Health, Prospect Medical Holdings, Morgan Records Management or Delaware County.

Crozer Health medical records that nobody requests are scheduled to be destroyed after March 2, 2027. Delaware County says the bankruptcy court has approved Prospect Medical Holdings’ request to dispose of the remaining files, so the time to request your Crozer medical records is now, not next spring. As of today that leaves about 137 days, and Morgan Records works through requests in the order they arrive.

Below, you will find what the deadline covers, what it does not, who should move first, and how to make sure a request actually finished before the cutoff.

What the March 2, 2027 deadline means for Crozer Health medical records

The Delaware County Health Department’s Prospect Medical update page states that all Crozer Health System records will be destroyed after March 2, 2027. The county’s printed step-by-step request guide from May 2026 puts it more loosely, saying the records will be destroyed “by March 2027.” Because of that, treat March 2 as the hard limit, and don’t count on a request filed in the last weeks of February finishing in time.

The destruction plan started with a motion Prospect filed in its Texas bankruptcy case in January 2026. According to DELCO Today’s report on the filing, Prospect asked to stop paying to store about 470,000 patient records from its closed Pennsylvania hospitals and health centers, which it said would save $350,000 a year. Those files include treatment notes, test results, prescriptions, referrals and billing records.

In other words, once the files are gone, a patient has no backup copy to ask for. Nobody has announced a fallback archive, and the county page offers no alternative storage. If you need something from Crozer, Taylor, Springfield or a Crozer physician practice, the only reliable copy after March 2027 is the one you saved yourself.

What is not covered by the destruction order

The county names one exception: imaging that ChristianaCare negotiated access to after it took over some former Crozer outpatient offices. ChristianaCare has a seven-year arrangement with Morgan Records to pull earlier Crozer images for people who become ChristianaCare patients. However, the county warns those transfers sometimes run late. To book imaging at a ChristianaCare site in Delaware County, the county lists 610-765-4175 or 866-525-9729.

That exception helps only if you become a ChristianaCare patient. If your new doctors are at Main Line Health, Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, Penn or anywhere else, request your own Radiology copy now.

How to request Crozer Health medical records before the deadline

All requests go through Morgan Records Management, the official custodian since July 2025. Requests are filed online, and Morgan’s Crozer page lists no phone number or mailing address, although a records line appears on a separate Morgan page (see our guide to the Crozer medical records phone number). Our main step-by-step records guide walks through every screen. The short version:

  1. Open Morgan’s Crozer request page and click Request My Records.
  2. Pick one department. Each department needs its own request.
  3. Enter your name, date of birth, phone and email, then verify your identity with your Social Security number or a photo of a government ID.
  4. Choose “Secure HIPAA Electronic Transfer,” which costs $0 according to the county guide. A mailed USB drive carries a fee.
  5. Sign on screen, submit, and write down the ticket ID. You need it to check status.

The old HealthLink portal is not the official route anymore. If you tried it and got nowhere, our page on what happened to the Crozer patient portal explains why.

The departments, and why one request is not enough

Morgan splits Crozer files into separate departments. A General Medical Records request returns summaries of care, provider notes, lab and imaging reports, medications and vital signs. It does not return the actual X-ray, CT or MRI image files, and it does not return billing.

Department on Morgan’s formWhat it holdsWho should ask for it

Who should request Crozer Health medical records first

Some people can afford to lose an old discharge summary. Others cannot. Put yourself near the front of the line if any of these apply:

Start with anyone who has a chronic condition, cancer history or past surgery that a new specialist will want to compare against. Next come people with a pending Social Security disability, workers’ compensation or personal injury claim that depends on Crozer treatment. Parents who had a baby at Crozer-Chester or Taylor may also need delivery or newborn records later. If you get repeat imaging, old scans show change over time, so they matter more than most files. Finally, think about older relatives who used Crozer for decades and may not be able to fill out an online form alone.

For records tied to Delaware County Memorial Hospital, which closed in 2022, Morgan’s pages say only “Crozer Health” and do not name the hospital. Our guide to the former Drexel Hill hospital covers what is known. If you are unsure whether Morgan holds your file, submit a request anyway and call the county Wellness Line for help.

Fees, refunds and the $3 million fund

In July 2025 Morgan began charging $35 for emailed records and $75 for a USB drive. On August 20, 2025 a bankruptcy judge approved a deal under which the Foundation for Delaware County pays $3 million so that up to 43,000 former patients can get records without a per-record fee, as the Inquirer reported.

Refunds are where official sources disagree. The Attorney General’s announcement said people who already paid would not be reimbursed. The county page now says people who paid before the agreement can seek reimbursement through Morgan, and Morgan’s request page does carry a refund request form. If you paid in July or August 2025, file the form and keep your receipt.

Also keep in mind that the fund has a cap. Nobody has published how much of it is left, so that is one more reason not to wait.

Check that your request actually finished

Submitting the form is not the same as having the file. Morgan processes requests in the order received, and the deadline will not pause for a request that is still in the queue. Use the status page on Morgan’s site with your ticket ID every couple of weeks. When the download link arrives, save the files in at least two places, such as a computer folder and a USB stick or cloud drive. Email links can expire.

If a request has stalled for more than a month, or you never got a ticket ID, call the Delaware County Health Department Wellness Line at 484-276-2100. The county also runs in-person help events, and it posts dates on the health department’s site and social media.

What to do if you miss the deadline

After March 2, 2027 the county expects the remaining Crozer files to be gone. Still, a few places may hold pieces of your history. Your primary care doctor or specialist may have copies of test results and consult notes Crozer sent them. In addition, your insurer keeps claims history showing dates and procedures, which can help rebuild a timeline. Pharmacies keep prescription histories. If ChristianaCare treats you, it can still try to pull earlier Crozer images under its separate arrangement. None of these replace a full chart, but they are better than nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still get my Crozer Health medical records?

Yes, until the March 2, 2027 cutoff. Requests go through Morgan Records Management’s online form, one department at a time.

Are Crozer Health medical records free?

Secure electronic delivery costs $0 according to the county’s guide, paid for by the Foundation for Delaware County. A mailed USB drive has a fee.

Is there a phone number for Morgan Records?

Morgan’s Crozer request page doesn’t list one, but Morgan’s custodian page for Prospect Crozer lists a medical records line, (833) 888-0061, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern. For local help, the county Wellness Line at 484-276-2100 is the best number to call.

Are Crozer X-rays and MRIs part of the deadline?

Yes. They go too unless you request them from the Radiology department or become a ChristianaCare patient, which has a separate seven-year imaging arrangement.

Can I request records for a parent who has died?

Neither Morgan nor the county has published a process for this. Usually the estate’s executor or administrator makes the request with court papers. Call the Wellness Line before the deadline if you need help.
