The hours, phone number and payment rules above come from the pharmacy’s own Mercy Pharmacy FAQ page. The Wellness Center street address is the one listed for the building in public directories; the hospital address matches Delaware County’s hospital list.

Where is the pharmacy at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital?

It is not inside the main hospital building, which trips people up. Trinity Health’s Mercy Pharmacy location page places it on the first floor of the Sister Marie Lenahan Wellness Center, and the FAQ describes that building as across the street from Mercy Fitzgerald. The Wellness Center also houses doctors’ offices and clinics, so if you have an appointment there you can drop off a prescription on the way out.

If you are leaving the emergency room or a hospital stay, ask staff to point you to the Wellness Center before you walk out of the main lobby. Parking rules on campus change from time to time, so the hospital switchboard at 610-237-4000 is the best place to check where to leave the car.

Is there a separate hospital pharmacy?

Yes, in the sense that every hospital has its own inpatient pharmacy that prepares medicines for admitted patients and the ER. That pharmacy is not a shop and you can’t fill a personal prescription there. When people search for the Mercy Fitzgerald hospital pharmacy, the place they can actually walk into is Mercy Pharmacy in the Wellness Center.

Mercy Fitzgerald pharmacy hours

The pharmacy keeps weekday and Saturday hours only. On weekdays it opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m.; on Saturday it is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is closed on Sunday and on holidays. There is no overnight or 24-hour service.

That matters if you are discharged late on a Friday or over a weekend. A prescription written at 7 p.m. on a Saturday won’t be filled here until Monday morning. In that case, ask the discharge nurse to send it to a pharmacy that is open, or to a 24-hour chain store near your home, and confirm the pharmacy has it in stock before you drive over.

For refills you know are coming, the pharmacy can set up a refill service that fills prescriptions a few days before they are due, so they are ready to pick up during open hours.

Filling discharge and ER prescriptions

Mercy Pharmacy partly exists to serve people leaving the hospital. According to the FAQ, your care team can call or fax discharge prescriptions to the pharmacy before you leave, so they are ready for pickup. Your admission paperwork includes an information sheet that asks for your insurance, address, birth date, phone number and drug allergies, and the pharmacy enters those details into its system.

Here is how pickup works in practice:

  1. Before discharge, tell your nurse you want your prescriptions sent to Mercy Pharmacy.
  2. Make sure the pharmacy has a working phone number for you. It calls when the order is ready.
  3. You or a caregiver picks up during open hours, signs for the medicines and shows identification.
  4. Pay by card, FSA card or cash. The pharmacy does not take checks.

If you came through the emergency department, our guide to the Mercy Fitzgerald ER covers check-in, wait times and what to bring, including a current medication list.

Using Mercy Pharmacy if you aren’t a hospital patient

You can. Trinity Health’s retail pharmacy page says its pharmacies are open to anyone who lives or works in the community. Your doctor can call, fax or e-prescribe a new prescription, or you can drop off a paper one.

To move existing prescriptions, the pharmacy can contact your current pharmacy to transfer them, or reach your prescriber for new ones. You can order refills by phone using the prescription number. For maintenance medicines, usually 90-day supplies, the FAQ says the pharmacy can mail them to your home if needed.

If you were a Crozer patient and are still working out where your care goes after the 2025 closures, our list of open hospitals and ERs in Delaware County shows where services moved.

Insurance, prior authorization and specialty drugs

The FAQ does not publish a list of accepted plans. If your prescription plan isn’t on file, staff will check whether you are enrolled and whether the pharmacy can join your plan’s network, then verify eligibility with the insurer. When a drug needs prior authorization, the pharmacy contacts both your insurer and prescriber. Plan on that taking more than 24 hours.

Some specialty medicines only come from specific specialty pharmacies. If Mercy Pharmacy can’t fill one, staff will help transfer the prescription to the right place. Call ahead if you take an injectable, a cancer drug or another high-cost medicine.

Help paying for prescriptions if you are 65 or older

Pennsylvania’s PACE and PACENET programs help older residents with prescription costs. You must be 65 or older. Based on the previous year’s gross income, PACE covers single people with $14,500 or less and married couples with $17,700 or less, and PACENET covers higher incomes up to $33,500 single or $41,500 married. You can apply by phone at 1-800-225-7223 or online, according to the state’s PACE application page.

What else the pharmacy carries

Mercy Pharmacy stocks a selection of over-the-counter products: pain relief, cough and cold remedies, eye, ear and oral care, first aid, foot care, stomach remedies, and diet and nutrition aids, plus ice bags and heating pads. Trinity Health also lists pharmacist consultations in a private setting and automated refill reminders.

For home health equipment, the pharmacy keeps a small range of items such as crutches, canes, arm slings and bedside commodes, plus replacement tips and grips. For larger items, or anything not in stock, staff refer you to Mercy Home Health.

Don’t mix it up with other Fitzgerald pharmacies

Search results for this pharmacy also show unrelated businesses with “Fitzgerald” in the name, such as independent pharmacies in other places. They have nothing to do with the hospital in Darby. If the address isn’t on Lansdowne Avenue and the phone number isn’t 610-237-7330, it isn’t Mercy Pharmacy.
